Industrial Botany
I took these photos as a part of my “Ugly side of Urban” modern landscape project; unfortunately the film didn’t develop however I previously took digital copies encase of technical issues.
The first picture is one of the Orica factories at Port Botany, what I like about this photo is the surreal atmosphere and the strange artificial orb like tanks. The daunting image almost has no signs of civilization, the haunting structure overpowers the image.
Meadowhill
Here is the driveway to the Orica factories in Meadow Hill Botany. The strange structures pipes and chimney stand out against the normal sky and long road. The wide skyline smothered with the thin blanket of clouds almost look like smoke or smog giving the image an motionless bizarre feel.
The limited image captures the essence of isolation as all signs of life are removed and the artifical buildings are the main focus.

Fence
Here is a close up of one of the pipes of the factory taken from another side of the building, the dark dominating fence creates a sombre forbidding atmosphere as it creates a barrier to its
Port Botany cranes
The second photo is of the construction cranes in Port Botany, the complex army of machines and their bright vibrant colours against the soft hazy clouds and the cool rippled water, the limited scenery immediately draws attention to the bright bold sinister machines in the distance.
Parramatta road Leichardt
Here are sewerage pipes under a bridge at Leichard, the managable unruly shrubs and plants and the graffiti smudge against the wall creates a busy grimy atmosphere. The dark seedy undergrowth creates a dark grungy enviroment as it almost looks like a secret tunnel.
Below is a street shop in Leichardt that sells garden features such as fences, gargoyles, water fountains, guard lions and if you look closely you can see a giant stone rooster. These were taken for my “Landscape” assignment, and exploring the haunting labyrinth of statues kind of reminded me of the Medusa’s garden scene from “Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief”. The large decorative stone figures in the middle of a suburban street felt like I’ve entered another world.

Abandon furniture warehouse
Next is an abandon Designer furniture warehouse at a street in Ash field and Parramatta, this tormented image of disrepair and abuse creates a sober commentary on how we ignore and neglect the old after it looses its value and no longer has a purpose. What we see is the remains on a forgotten period as the shattered windows and the building consumed with graffiti and rust creates a clear portrayal of societies ignorance and desolation
Princes Highway Kogarah
The next photo is of construction work of the Princes Highway in Kogarah, the bold tangled mass of the construction sight dominates the busy highway, the traffic road blocks add to the hectic chaos as being apart of society we are trapped in our own bubble controlled by technology and ignorant to the outside world. The industrial work is for possibly a sky scraper, this image emphasizes humanities growth on capitalism and not preserving our resources during this economy driven era.
The unsettling graffiti towering over the horizon emphasizes the lack of respect and ignorance
