These are a few of my favourite things 2012
For my year 12 digital photography assignment we were given 2 projects, 1 was the “Favourite things collage” were we have to create our own pictures representing our personality while the other was my “doppelganger” where we have to choose a location and take different photos of ourselves to look like we are interacting with copies of ourselves.
These items I have collected and that have been given to me by friends or family these items represent friendships and have symbolic value. Such as my Chinese tea-set, masquerade mask or my skull platform shoes to represent different aspects of my personality

For my “Favourite things” assignment I made a collage of personal objects given to me as gifts to represent different aspects of my identity. Throughout the series I’ve used a theme of black, white, red and gold to create almost a monochrome of warmth and tones.
For my first image, titled “Rose”, I have used multiple objects with their own different symbols; the backdrop is the mosaic door to my house, the rose kind of echoes the style of the film “Beauty and the Beast”. Around the image are my paintbrushes representing my artistic side, the brushes look almost like a sun rays around the picture like mosaic cathedral windows.
On the top left corner is one of the roses from my gander representing nature while on the right are the eyes from my cat, the bright haunting eyes peeking through the darkness almost resembles the Cheshire cat from Alice in Wonderland. The opacity is decreased because I wanted to leave a ghostly apparition of the image.
The small macabre hat and the theatrical mask represent my dramatic entertaining side, the cat and the theatrical mask is repeated throughout the series to emphasise my theatrical side.

Butterfly
In my next photo is more simplistic and whimsical than the previous image, for the background I used one of my shirts because I wanted the soft elegant pattern to be a recurring theme. The central focus is a mosaic butterfly that my little brother gave me, representing my connection to family as well as the giant colourful wings frame the image.
On the top left and the bottom left are copies of my Chinese teapot (seen previously in my still life assignment), the smooth elegant appeal resembles the Mad Hatter in the Alice stories. For this image I’ve used the cat as a frame, using the duplication tool to create a chain of cats. I’ve decreased the opacity to make the black flowing silhouette of the animal blend into the background pattern.

Shoes
For the final picture is one of my earlier ideas, the dream catcher represents my spiritual side, and frames the background like the butterfly wings. The bold gothic shoes (see still life) represent my casual party side creating contrast against the previous images. The background is a doily because I wanted to corporate an image of delicate and grace.
